This is Edward Mandell House's prophetic novel Philip Dru - Administrator (1998) which blatantly discloses the hidden political agenda and conspiratorial mentality of one of the founders of american think-tank CFR (Council of Foreign Relations) who was also present at the Paris peace conference after World war 1. When published anonymously in 1921, few knew that the closest advisor of then american president Woodrow Wilson was the true author of this most unknown book of the 20th century. House disloses the hidden agenda of international bankers who have already financed the bolsheviks in Russia and would like to do the same in America. But a socialist America? Reality disguised as fiction? True understanding of the ideas presented in this amazing book exposes the socialistic ideas which according to the author should become part of everyday american life. The novel describes a coup d'etat of the american republic and its gradual transformation into a socialist state which would eventually be merged with the Soviet Union. Sounds shocking? If only we take into consideration that House held such a close position to then american president it shouldn't come as a big surprise that some of the ideas from the book actually became standard part of today's american politics - right under the noses of the naive american public. Main character, Philip Dru, is a graduate of West Point military academy but eventually abandons a promising military career to focus himself entirely to the social problems of the state. During the course of his involvement he is chosen to lead an army of revolutionaries against the american government. When they finally succeed to overthrow it, Dru immediately nationalizes all industries and conforms all corporations to the now almighty state. Every American is promised a job. Dru also throws the old constitution through the window and writes a new one based on socialist foundations. It is interesting to note that in the book the american people actually rebel against his politics. It is even more interesting that many of such socialistic ideas actually became a standard part of american life but only a few are aware of them and even fewer rebel against them. Did a silent socialistic revolution really happened in America in front of gullible noses of sleeping Americans who believed that their enemy is hiding in Moscow? Were the dramatic events of 11. september 2001 used to even further expand the agenda of these conspirators to give the already almighty state even more power? Extended edition with a foreword and appendixes, also includes a practical guide for understanding the novel. 200 pages. A must read for everyone.

While some of the specific information, such as the location of counterforce targets (US missile and bomber bases) is out-dated, much of the insight remains valid. For the generation born after 1980, the book provides absolutely priceless perspective on the meaning of "The Cold War" and the risks faced by civilian and military alike during that era. The prospect of global nuclear war, a constant in the Reagan years, puts today's small scale terrorist threats into an entirely different perspective. In fact Clayton remains one of the most concise, intelligent, and useful sources for any individual, family or group contemplating the dangers of contemporary life. It would be difficult to write a better all purpose survival manual. The author understands that preparing for one emergency somewhat prepares you for them all. He focuses on the practical and doesn't get immersed in the arcana of combat firearms or sidetracked into politics. Although the cold war used the nuclear holocaust as a way to scare the population into submission of the power elite, the dangers such weaponry remain essentially the same and you better be prepared for them. On the other hand you will more likely die from just about any other factor - even if it's just worrying that a nuclear attack may come soon. 180 pages, many pictures. A must read for everyone.
